Guide of a dog show

General rules

Swedish-owned dogs registered in the Swedish Kennel Club (SKK) and foreign owned dogs registered in a foreign kennel club recognized by SKK have the right to participate in the exhibition. Special requirements for membership in the organizing club also apply to the owner.

The dog must be vaccinated according to current regulations and be ID marked. Puppies under the age of 4 months are not allowed at the exhibition area.

Not allowed on exhibition

You must not impair other dogs' chances for a fair assessment. It is also not permitted to influence the presentation of the dog with the help of someone outside the ring.

Participating dog must not be injured or sick. It must also not be subjected to action that may unduly affect the appearance, performance, reaction or expression of injury or illness.

Obligations of the exhibitor

Exhibitors who have entered the ring for judging the dog must participate in the class in which the dog is entered, and in any subsequent competition class. Exhibitors, whose dog is to be included in the stud or breeding class, should participate with their dog if this is requested by the breeder or the owner of the stud dog/bitch, as this is part of good cynological practice. The exhibitor or his representative is obliged to comply with the specified rules of procedure. Violation of this may result in rejection from the show, forfeiture of the dog's prize and, in more serious circumstances, disciplinary actions. If the dog is kept in, for example, a car, cage or tent, it must be done in such a way that the dog cannot get hurt. Remember especially never to leave the dog in the car on a hot summer day!Refund The registration fee is refunded if the dog is not to participate due to a change of judge. You must make your own claim for reimbursement no later than on the day of the show before the assessment of the breed in question begins. The registration fee is not refunded in an unofficial puppy class. The registration fee is also not refunded due to a veterinary certificate.

Rules for assessment and assessment order Assessment order

Male dogs and bitches are judged separately. Complete rules can be found in SKK's Exhibition and Championship Rules, which can be found at www.skk.se.

Quality assessment

Quality assessment means that the dog is awarded a prize for its exterior and mentality in comparison with the requirements of the breed standard, without regard to other dogs participating in the class. Therefore, several dogs can be awarded the same quality award. The quality awards are Excellent, Very good, Good, Sufficient or Disqualified and the rating "Cannot be judged". Price of Honor (Hp) and Champion quality(CK)are also a quality assessment.

Excellent

Dog which corresponds very well to the standard of the breed, and which is presented in excellent condition, shows a harmonious well-balanced temperament, maintains excellent class and has an excellent whole. Its excellent qualities in relation to the breed ideal allow the judge to overlook minor details. The dog must have a clear gender mark.

Very good

Dog that corresponds well to the breed's standard, that is well balanced and in good condition. Minor errors can be tolerated, but none that negatively affect the overall impression. This assessment can only be given to a dog of very good class. Good

Dog that corresponds to the breed standard and whose exterior faults are of a less prominent nature.

Sufficient (acceptable)

Dog that corresponds to the breed's standard but does not have all of the breed's character traits or lacks physical condition.

Disqualified

Awarded to a dog that in the ring shows aggressiveness or typical escape behavior or has such anatomical defects that they significantly affect the dog's health and soundness. Also awarded to the dog that is atypical in appearance or has a disqualifying fault for its breed or is cryptorchid.

Cannot be judged (CBJ)

Dogs, which are shown in such a condition that the judge cannot form a firm opinion of their quality, can in exceptional cases be awarded the judgment Cannot be judged (CBJ). Examples of this are if the dog has obvious deficiencies in show and ring culture (such as not being used to a leash or a puppyish temperament) or is shown in poor condition (is excessively thin or fat). The same can apply to a dog so recently trimmed that the judge cannot make a reliable assessment of the quality of the dog's coat. Furthermore, due to injury, a dog can show itself so badly that its movements are difficult to assess.Competitive assessment

Competition assessment means that the dogs participating in the class are placed in the order of 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th. In the puppy class there is also Disqualified and the judgment Cannot be judged. If a dog has been disqualified, it may not continue to compete in any class at the show.
